An unusual update

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, we've finally managed to get a quick post in.

Last week we started working at Sony music and will be for here for several weeks. It's a pretty exciting project to be involved in and we're hoping that it'll be our first piece of work that really becomes big.

We'll try to provide a few updates.

We Have Mostly Been

Working on our entry for the D&AD digital workshops, which we submitted on Weds.
The brief was to persuade more football fans to purchase a replica shirt from the Nike online store rather than club shops.
Pissing around with stamps Wilf bought from FailBlog.

Developing some ideas we've had for our book and drinking lots of beverages, both alcoholic and non. The drinking bit has mostly been in the company of people who have some interesting things to say about advertising, including a rather fun first meeting with Sam and an eye opening chat with Alfred.

Cake

Ate this cake the other day, it was really nice. It was for a birthday, so there was a reason for the lavish cake.
What we're not sure of, is how do they make the amazing patterns on the sponge?

If anyone knows the truth, let us know please.
Maybe we should just ask Fallon or Skoda.

DM Day 3: The Champion Is Dead

As this is written, the elimination count stands at thirty- nine, an impressive amount for the end of the third day. This has mostly been down to a few select assassins who have been direct and efficient, whilst the rest of you hide yourselves away like cowards; the cowards will soon be struck off.

So, it is with sadness and excitement that we announce that the pre
vious champion of Death Match has been eliminated; Yes Chris Payne is now out and we will soon have a new champion, which we hope spurs you all on.

DM1 Champion Chris Payne

The assassin that shot the ex-champ goes by the name of 'Ringo' or Reece Starr and he currently holds the title of 'most kills' with five overall.

Most Kills so far- 'Ringo'

Yet, we must also announce that after eliminating the previous champion, 'Ringo' was also wiped from the tournament board by the efforts of a budding assassin. So now it remains unclear who will claim the title, but in the meantime the Bureau wish the leave you with one thought.

There is one assassin that wants to make this title his own and he is determined to prove himself, many assassins suffered at his hands in the last tournament and his very name seems to cause players to loose their cool
. We simply refer to him simply as 'Ely' and the question is, do you think you can stop him?

'Ely'

First Round Up

As we write this, we are drawing to the end of the first day's play, at last count we had eight kills. There have been a couple of assassins that have two kills already, their dedication is impressive.

The tournament commenced with sixty- nine assassins, with a lot of preparation going into making sure that all assassins had the required information and tools for the game.

Whilst the order of the tournament was drawn at random.

Overall 'The Bureau' have been pleased with the effort and would like to remind assassins that you should be mature enough to accept when you have been eliminated. We'd also like you to send in more pictures and videos of your kills so that we can bring you in detail, the stories behind the tournament. A tiring yet rewarding 24 hours.

The Trade Show

Finally a moment to have a little catch up on the blog. We've been quite busy with D&AD workshops and working on our book, we might try and put some stuff up about both of these soon.

For now, it's time to show off the KesselsKramer Tradeshow; celebrating the agencies work. It's being held on our UCA camp
us and it's been nice to see the faces of the other students, most of which are fairly snobby towards advertising. They almost seem ashamed to like the work, so hopefully we'll be given a bit more respect on campus.

Here's some photos of the show:

Kessels Kramer Show

Show opens at our University on Thursday, exciting to think what it'll be, and the case to learn from the wisdom that is Erik Kessels.

Best Agency Christmas Piece So Far

Nice work for Christmas by AKQA.

Whilst this year's effort by W+K is an interactive Christmas card maker in their window (which is lovely), nothing beats last year's Christmas pudding bin bags, that combined usefulness and creativity.

Death Match 2 - Can you handle the payne

Plans are already afoot with the next Death Match fundraiser for our degree show. It should be back in February but we're letting everyone know early to avoid disappointment. Any Farnham based readers can join the Facebook group here. Should be even better this time but, we have a lot of work to get out the way first.

This time the tournament is titled after the raining champion, lets hope it spurs him on to defend his crown.

Bad Sign

Our local Thai restaurant has got got some new signs up, now we've never been in there, mainly due to a mates recommendation, but we noticed this today. Its a shame, as if it had of been better, we might have given it chance, but then again maybe we should just go in to see if they are as crazy as their sign is.

The Sales Team

We've just finished a brief that was intended to promote the notion that the VW Golf S was now at a lower price, it was tough but ended up being a lot of fun.

Based on the idea of a lower price, we decided to promote the notion that Volkswagen had lowered their advertising spend in order to bring a better price to its customers. Although, this still needed to be promoted, therefore we based our campaign on the idea of a mythical VW sales team and their efforts the bring this new price to the customers attention.

We wanted to use low cost media in order to demonstrate the idea of the low ad budget. We created a viral documentary on the team, along with fly posters and a pirate radio station run by the team themselves.

Excuse the bad acting, although we hope the idea comes across.

Sigur Ros

Went to see Sigur Ros on Friday night, an amazing gig, awe inspiring music and visuals. Left feeling inspired and wanting to influence the people around us
. Waterfalls in front of the stage, confetti flying above us, blinding lights and shivers up our spines.

Makes you think, when you look back, you will always remember that night. Did anyone else see them?

Little Big Planet

We thought this game was worthy of a post, we love the animation style, it's so different to any other game around. Not to mention we love the the open source nature of the game. The idea that you can create your own levels and then share them around the community as well as play other peoples levels is not unique, but this game does it in such an original way.

Tracing Light

Over the weekend we got involved with a project commissioned by our university and undertaken by artist Tine Bech. She has worked on various projects involving the manipulation of lighting and this recent project involved exploring the uses of Graffiti lighting and LED Throwies. Tine also produced a permanent piece of art on a bridge next to the Farnham Maltings, which uses motion sensors to change the colour of the bridge lighting as you alk along. To mark this, we help an open workshop for the community to learn more about the uses of LED Throwies, teaching participants how to build their own Throwies and the various uses they have.

We also had a photography workshop that allowed attendees to play around with the light streams and camera shutter speed, which was a lot of fun.

If you like the look of the above photos, then there are lots more here.
